Trackhouse: Daytona 500 Edition

Pitbull has his foot firmly on the gas and rev’s up more fan engines as he drops extended album Trackhouse: Daytona 500 Edition. The release date coincides with Mr Worldwide’s Daytona 500 pre-race concert at the Daytona International Freeway this weekend.

Official New Titles

Before we go any further I invite you in joining me to crown Pitbull THREE new titles.

Firstly, I hereby crown Pitbull Mr Sample-By-Example. An example of how a sample should be done! Upon reflection on a good proportion of his music catalogue and more prominently the volume of samples in Trackhouse and Daytona 500,

Secondly, although Dade County made him, allow him to introduce himself, it’s Mr Dade Country!

Finally, Mr Dale Disco – A realisation that Pitbull remakes or utilises samplers from the simpler 70’s era and brings those disco and feel good vibes and lyrics onto Trackhouse and the extended Daytona 500 album.

You heard the new titles here first. Without further ado, let’s visit the tracks on the new album.

The Album

Trackhouse Daytona 500 Album Pitbull spoils us with some great collaborations aa he serves up a big chunk of Country, a drop of disco, a quick splash of rap, a bump of Miami/ Booty-Bass, touch of Tropical Rock and sprinkle of Spanglish. In essence, the album is really modern party-Country infusion with little random bit of everything else on the side. The common theme as having a good time.

There It Is, produced by DJ Chino and Big Syphe, the track sample’s 90’s Tag Team hit Whoomp There It Is. It’s back again with Pitbull revving up the party people of today with some Miami and Booty-Bass vibes, it makes sense that legendary DJ Laz also has a hand in the writing of this track.

Ever the riddler, Pitbull hits us with “I try my best to stay off the grid like Loch Ness” A reference to how he generally stays off the radar like the famous monster in the lake in Scotland, which no one since has really seen! Followed by some old-school Pitbull filth seeping through. Infectious and energetic. PARTY PEOPLE! This is a must listen.

Get Get Get Down is all about getting lit, loose and Pitbull hollering at the girls in a Country music Honky Tonk with their donky tonk.

Featuring Country Legend Tim McGraw and Mr 305 Inc’s Vikina, Get Get Down is a spin on Tim’s 90’s hit I Like It I Love it. Pitbull brings back a toned-down hook from Go Girl (Boatlift 2007) to meet a global audience with “Now I party like a rockstar, Look like a movie star, Play like an all-star, Baby, meet me at the bar.” While Tim Graw and Vikina come back with“I like it, I love it, I want some more of it.”

No other female artist comes to mind for this track, and it’s clear that the song was made for Vikina to jump on. In fact, Vikina is all over the album.

I don’t own a pair of rose tinted glasses, as mentioned in my very first article on Planetpit.com and I recently it made clear on the Trackhouse album review, that it was becoming somewhat tiresome of the recently Mr305 Inc acquired ‘same-same sounding and Play N Skillz beat’ on Pitbull songs. HOWEVER, I am loving this fresh sound – you got my ears back fellas, I love it! The electric guitar with the Country flavour and reminiscent of 70’s TV theme tunes is on fire!

Good Life is co-produced by DJ Chino, Pitbull put’s his own stamp on 70’s band Chic and Nile Rodgers hit Good Times.Like 70’s partygoers in the disco explosion era out to simply feel good, enjoy good music, dance and have a good time. Much of what Pitbull tries to embody today. Strengthened by his phrase “Life is not a waste of time, and time is not a waste of life, So let’s not waste any time, Get wasted tonight and have some.”

Mr Worldwide emphasises his music and shows too are aimed at having a good times and forgetting about troubles, in other words – these are good times, leave your cares behind.

Don’t miss the nod to Drake for showing love, in his recent lyrics “I know I’m (not) a Pitbull, but dale mami.’

Tequila is where Pitbull invites you ‘to kill little time’ with him at the bar upon sampling Country star Jon Pardi’s hit Tequila Little Time. Yet another fresh and contagious Play N Skills production. It’s evident Mr Worldwide is going Mr Country with full force and taken in by the Daisy Dukes, tied up shirt and cowboy hat.

Powerful Women features the Queen of Country music Dolly Parton in a modern-day twist of Working 9-5. This track is absolute gold, a tribute hard working mothers and also to his Late mother who worked hard and did as many jobs as needed to survive. How he remembers ‘working hard with my mom’ – if memory serves correct, a reference to when he used to go out selling door to door with his mom on one of the jobs as a child.

Thank God & Jimmy Buffet celebrates the Late Jimmy Buffett who has a history with being discovered as a Country singer in Nashville upon a trip to the Florida Keys. Jimmy promoted ‘enjoying life and following passion and a man with his hands in many business pies – a bit like Mr Worldwide himself. Sliding in a little Margaritaville and mixing in Jimmy’s original song titles and taking chances as he rolls a dice and says f*ck it. Tropical Rock and Country infusions with Leo Brooks and DJ Chino’s hand in productions

Guantanamera, comes with a sneaky cheeky sampler from Stromae’s Alors on Danse, the song originally featured on his 2010 album Armando and makes a second appearance in light of newfound Tik Tok popularity. Produced by Pitbull’s original DJ Buddha and MK. The only Spanglish track on the extended album.

The original song was written by Joseito Fernandez and uses a poem by Cuban Jose Marti. If you link it back a little to the 80’s, Pitbull’s father Armando Senior put him on a stool as a very young child in bars in Little Havana to recite poems by Jose Marti.

A must listen, I’d like to say this is Pitbull’s first Country-ish album with bits of other genres on the side.

Available to purchase and stream on all major platforms

Dale!
