2 The Moon Has Landed

“ Part of me wants to….go and ponder whether we need another song from this trio?

But then I think – oh wait, it’s with Ne-Yo!

Part of me wants to….. know if 2 The Moon will top Give Me Everything.

But ALL of me can’t wait to immerse into this new rhythm and sing….”

As 2 The Moon by Pitbull, Ne-Yo, Afrojack featuring DJ Buddha dropped to earth today, these uncertainties were put firmly to bed.

As the new single turns the mooN into the sun and turns the mooD into an elevated one –  get ready to be seduced all over again as the dream-team reunite to make history all over again. Eleven years into the future from the first time with Give Me Everything. Where Pitbull tells us to “Reach for the stars, and if you don’t grab them, at least you’ll fall on top of the world.” This time it seems they went bigger and took a shot 2 The Moon itself.

Pitbull’s got all the elements thrown into the mix for this one, from the moon into the sun to some Earth, Wind and Fire. A feel-good anthem just in time for summer yet timeless though all seasons.

It is true when they say music artists and DJs have this God-like ability to control and change emotions of the listener. 2 The Moon has recaptured us all over again with the same magic as Give Me Everything. 2 The Moon has the rhythm and energy which first takes hold of the soul before it oozes to the body to dance it out.

Greg Watermann Takes Us Behind The Music

I managed to catch up with our favourite rockstar photographer Greg Watermann who was with Pitbull while 2 The Moon was penned.

Transporting us into the moment this song was made. Greg tells us  “I was with him in his hotel room when he wrote and recorded his verses. It was just another day recording. He opened his book to the first blank page and wrote “NeYo To The Moon” at the top. He started the rough track on a loop and just listened to the music until the lyrics flowed out of the pen. An hour later he was done with his vocals and his overdubs and the song was finished.”

And just like that 2 The Moon is born! Thank you Greg Watermann for taking us further behind the music.

Rhythm and Rhymes

From having the Time of Their Lives, Give Me Everything and now 2 The Moon, when Ne-Yo and Pitbull get together it’s usually a theme on having fun all night until the moon makes way for the sun, love, romance where everyone is having a PG time until Pitbull throws his signature filth into the mix – and we love that!

Afrojack’s signature dance and EDM gently combined for cross-genre appeal is evident on the track. While Ne-Yo’s chorus had me along with the repeated ‘o-o-Ooh.’ Serving up an infectious hook. Pitbull’s wordplay, wit and style in rhymes keep us on our feet.

A celebration of Pitbull’s crazy ride on life itself, the lyrics bring us a combination of pursuing dreams, possibilities, being unstoppable, partying, having fun and love with “Performin’, thank God and Jimmy Buffet, that’s me. With Jon Bon Jovi, yeah, that’s me A reference to the duo’s performance of Pitbull’s Thank God and Jimmy Buffet (Trackhouse Daytona 500 Edition Album)

“Got to meet Earth, Wind & Fire, what a night” Perhaps a reference to the New Years Eve Revolution back in 2016 or perhaps a teaser of something to exciting to come?  We all know Pitbull favourite song is September – so much that he created his own spin on it with Sensato in 2013.

The Fireball in him enables him to be Reportin‘ live from a solar eclipse, that be me” as can be the case during a solar eclipse. When all three planets line up. As the moon passes between the sun and the earth. Which leads me to mention alignment, visualisation and the Law of Attraction Pitbull is known to believe in to create the life he has.

For all the Pitbull Girls Googling if Pitbull is married the answer is in the song “ I’m married to the hustle, what a wife.”

Always carrying the 305 on his back wherever he steps on the globe and in rhyme, a reminder that “My DNA is MIA.”  How he grew up in Miami played a big part in making the Pitbull we know and love today.

DJ Buddha

The fact that DJ Buddha is on here delights me, for fans that joined a little later on Pitbull’s career timeline, Buddha has always been here since the beginning as far back as M.I.A.M.I and pre-DJ Chino era, so be sure to dig out the tracks DJ Buddha with Pitbull and his current day achievements there is a lot to discover, re-discover and anticipation of more yet to come.

It’s In The Details

The details within the cover of 2 The Moon are not to be missed either. Specifically, how  the O’s in the word moon are entwined. Which seems a perfect transition of how the ‘moon turns into the sun’ and also can be interpreted as how Pitbull is “Reportin’ live from a solar eclipse, that be me.” With the overlapping of the O’s representing the moon and sun causing and eclipse.

The release of 2 The Moon soon after their last hit ended up as an orchestral version on Netflix’s Bridgerton, seems like perfect timing. Perhaps 2 The Moon will also end up on Lady Whistledown’s story too?

In terms of different parts of the day Pitbull has a thing for burning an all-nighter to sunrise, as lyrics go,  first Sun Don’t Let Me Down with Keith Urban and now 2 The Moon. Whatever time of day, it’s never too early or late in the day for Pitbull.

2 The Moon is available for purchase and streaming on all major platforms on earth.
